Great Couple of days...

...We're still looking for a drummer. Alex is playing out of his skin at the moment. Probably because the pressure is off. Really don't want him to go but have to respect he sees his future elsewhere.

On Monday we modeled Firetrap's Autumn/Winter Denim collection. This was a great laugh. We turned up at this mansion on London's Portland Place where parking spaces say 'Diplomats Only'. We loaded our gear in and set up. It was an amazing room. Big leather couch, Big fireplace, Old record player set up with vinyl scattered around it (including Bruce Springsteen's 'Darkness On The Edge Of Town', made me feel at home). After we set up and soundchecked, we had to put the clothes on. I had to squeeze in to a pair of women's 32 inch skinny jeans. The men's ones were too baggy for me. But the women's ones....Ouch. I had this tight black T shirt and a cool looking black jacket. Very moody. I had my haircut and had my make up done. Ha! Make up! I had this black eye liner and foundation and lip colour. Might get used to it.

At about 6pm, the models walked in. We had these 3 girls who were our 'groupies'. They had to dance around and hang with us. Giles got their numbers.

We played our set 2 or 3 times and jammed a couple of old tunes and mucked around with a few ideas. It went down really well. At one point we had the whole place bouncing. Everyone came in to the room and started dancing. Great fun. We'll have some photos very soon so I'll post a link.

Yesterday I drove Giles, Laurie and myself to Bath, South West England to do a radio interview and record some acoustic session tracks. We're playing Bath University Radio's 5th Anniversary Gig on Sat 11th Feb, so they got us in to have a chat. We did 3 tracks: 'First Move', 'New Way' and 'Do It'. We talked about what was going on with the band and the future etc. It's great doing interviews. The more you do, the more relaxed and comfortable you get talking about what you do. The show will be aired very soon and will be archived on the university's website. www.1449urb.com

I've set up a myspace page for songs that don't get used by the band. All tracks are recorded in my room. I've got a little studio where I lay down ideas. The tracks that are up there at the moment are from a few years back and the band have actually played them. Except for 'Cry For Help'. I haven't even played that song to the band yet. I know it won't be a 'Vibrants song. Anyway, check it all out at www.myspace.com/sammyholt and please add me!

Another gig announced, more to come...

...We've got a gig on Thurs 2nd Feb at Southampton Uni. Can't wait. should be a good one.

also...we've been invited to play at a festival in Pennsylvania at the start of August. Fingers crossed we can get over and do that show.

On a less positive note, we're going to have to look for a new drummer :-(

We have gigs!...

...We had our band meeting and discussed what shows we had coming up.

I couldn't wait for the meeting to be honest. I know it was only 2 weeks we hadn't all been together because of xmas but to me it seemed like an eternity. I need to be rehearsing and gigging. It's what I do! I get bored when I'm not doing band stuff. Don't get me wrong, I can relax and I like holidays but I need that buzz and excitement.

We all met in the Grey Horse in Kingston Upon Thames and chatted about our holidays, what we got up to etc and then got down to business.

So first things first, Here are the gigs that we have coming up:

Saturday 11th Feb - University of Bath.

Thursday 16th Feb - Fruit Fly @ Woody's, Notting Hill.

Thursday 23rd Feb - Roehampton University, London

Tuesday 7th March - The Fez Club, Putney, London

Friday 17th March - Hope & Anchor, Islington, London

As I've said before, University gigs are my favorite ones because there's about a 90% chance it'll be busy. Students are a good crowd to play to as well. They get pissed and have a laugh and don't listen too critically!

We've got something interesting coming up on Monday 23rd January. Firetrap, a clothing brand, have approached us to model their new denim line at a launch party. What we're meant to do is just rehearse whilst wearing their denim and people, buyers etc can walk around us and inspect the clothes. Should be fun. It's a free rehearsal! In fact, we'll be getting paid and getting free clothes. I don't buy new clothes anymore. I get most of my clothes 2nd hand off eBay or from vintage 2nd hand stores in East London or Covent Garden. But if clothes are free, I'm not going to turn them down. I hope the denim looks good and they don't sew unnecessary patches on or make fake rips etc.

We're releasing "New Way" on iTunes at the end of February! I'll download it 50 times (79p a download) to get it up the charts. We've got a PR company working with us now as well. It's all getting exciting! There's even talk of us going out and doing some gigs in Japan. There's a Japanese label interested in us. Of course we'll be coming over to the States as soon as we can as well!

I've got a few new songs in the pipeline. I few ideas I've got running through my head that need to be pulled out and put in to lyrics and music. We need to write more songs as a band because we're due to release an album at the end of 2006. I thought that I may make a myspace page for songs that don't fit The Vibrants remit. A lot of the time I write songs that just don't suit what the band are trying to do but they still aren't bad songs. Just as pictures and paintings need a gallery, maybe these songs need to be listened to. I don't know...

It's going to be a good year. Fingers crossed. I'll enjoy it whatever happens.

Right! That's over with...

I just want to get going again. Get back in to the swing of things!

Christmas and New Year was very relaxing. I allowed myself to chill. I picked up the guitar about 3 times in 2 weeks! Too much like hard work.

New Years Eve wasn't too messy actually. I went to Blue Elephant, a Thai restaurant in Fulham. Very posh. 5 course meal. Danced like an idiot! Enjoyed it.

Going to have a meeting to talk about what gigs we've got coming up among other things.

I'll blog again when I know what we've got coming up for us!
